Begbroke & Yarnton public meetings, 12 & 15 September

The Begbroke and Yarnton Green Belt Campaign (BYG) was established to protect the Green Belt around our two villages and preserve their history and character. Cherwell District Council is proposing to build 2,480 houses in Begbroke & Yarnton to help meet Oxford city's unmet housing need. This would result in creating a conurbation three times the current size of our two villages and threaten to make our already crowded roads impassable. Such development would be a breath-taking violation of the founding principles behind our Green Belt and in reality will do little to provide the genuinely affordable homes that people are hoping for.

The BYG team are working hard to raise funds to support our cause, with £2,500 already committed, but we need to build on this success. Can you help us hit our target? If you are opposed to permanently removing areas of Green Belt land to build genuinely unaffordable housing, worried about the effect on the environment and wildlife habitats, and concerned about increased traffic congestion from thousands of new houses, then support the BYG campaign! Please consider making a donation towards professional expert fees and promotional materials via our JustGiving account.

Our next public village meetings will be:

  • Begbroke Village Hall -- 12 September at 7.30pm

  • Yarnton Village Hall -- 15 September at 7.30pm

Come along to hear from the BYG team, ask questions, make suggestions, and show your support for the campaign.
